Obituary of Robert J. Pogmore

Robert Joseph Pogmore, 77, of Wallingford, departed this life on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Silver Springs in Meriden. He was the beloved husband of Nancy (Freeman) Pogmore. Robert was born on January 23, 1933, in Meriden, CT, a son of the late Robert and Evelyn (Fisher) Pogmore. Robert was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Cadmus during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement, he had worked for Choate Rosemary Hall for 46 years. He was active in many groups, including the Rod and Gun Club, Compass Lodge #9 Masonic Lodge where he was a fifty-five year member, the American Dairy Goat Association, the 4H Club where he served as a leader, and the American Legion, Shaw-Sinon Post. Formerly he had been a member of the Wallingford Grange and he had served as a trustee of the First United Methodist Church of Wallingford. He enjoyed raising goats, turkey and chickens and was a graduate of Lyman Hall�s class of 1952. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by his children, Robert (and Darcie) Pogmore, Jr. of Webster, NY, Donna (and Daniel) Carafeno of Meriden, Lori (and Michael) Blank of Meriden; 6 Grandchildren: Annette (and Patrick McKenna), Robert III, Mollie, Jacob, Travis, and Christopher, and many cousins, nieces nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his sister, Nancy Moore. A memorial service will be held on Monday, November 15, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church of Wallingford, 941 Old Rock Hill Rd., Wallingford. Friends may call one hour prior to the service and the family will greet visitors during a reception to follow the services at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to First United Methodist Church of Wallingford or the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or online at www.shrinershq.org/shc/springfield. The family greatfully acknowledges the excellent care and love given to Robert by the entire staff at Silver Springs Care Center in Meriden. The B.C.
