Obituary of Lorraine Stanford
EAST HAVEN - Lorraine M. Stanford, 82, of East Haven, beloved wife of the late Joseph Stanford Sr., departed this life on Friday, November 5, 2010 at the Hospital of St. Raphael surrounded by her loving family.
Lorraine was born on July 9, 1928 in New Haven, daughter of the late James and Martha (Hathaway) Frio. She was a devoted wife and mother taking wonderful care of her family. She is warmly remembered as a wonderful friend and confident to so many people.
She will be sadly missed by her beloved children: Mildred Shingler and her husband Lester of Meriden, James Snedeker of Wallingford, Howard Snedeker and his wife Donna of West Haven, Joseph Stanford Jr. of New Haven, Martha Sciarra of East Haven, Vinnie Stanford and his wife Roberta of Meriden, Cheryl Talbot and her husband William of Meriden, and Leroy Stanford and his wife Anne of Meriden. She also leaves her favorite nephew Joe Benard of Wallingford along with a brother Carl Washburn of Wallingford and a sister, Shirley Ann Warner of Yalesville. She also leaves 16 beloved grandchildren, and 26 great grandchildren in addition to her "Ledgeview Family" along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by two sons: Norman Snedeker and John Stanford, 2 grandsons, James Snedeker and Christopher Stanford along with a great granddaughter Angel and a great grandson Jayce and her special daughter in law and best friend Susan Snedeker who led the way only a few days before Lorraine. She is also preceded in death a brother, Erwin Benard and sister Frances Barbera.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 from 4 - 8 PM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford on Wednesday, November 10th at 10 AM. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Wallingford.
