Obituary of Mary Lok

LOK, Mary Foss Mary Foss Lok, beloved mother, grandmother and sister, passed away Tuesday at Bridgeport Hospital after a short illness at the age of 88. Born in Yarmouth, Maine, Mary was the daughter of Arthur and Katharine Foss. She is survived by her son Jan and his wife, Maureen of Atlanta, GA; son, Peter and his wife Sandra of Manchester, CT,; daughter, Nancy Bailey and her husband Cory of Fairfield, CT; daughter, Teddie Salko and her husband Chris of Southport, CT; grandchildren, Todd and Derek Lok, Tonya and Jeffrey Lok, Chase Bailey and Drew Salko; two great-granddaughters; and sisters, Frances Jutila and Rita Trakas both of Niantic, CT. She was predeceased by her husband of 61 years, Theodore (Ted) Lok, her sister Kathleen Orlando and brother James. Mary's family settled in New London, CT where she graduated from The Williams School and The Business Institute of New London. She and Ted moved to Glastonbury to raise their family and then to Ashlar Village in Wallingford nine years ago. Mary was a Vice President at Glastonbury Bank and Trust where she worked for 25 years. She was a member of the American Bankers Association, the Glastonbury Garden Club, the Glastonbury Women's Club, the Glastonbury Hills Country Club, various PTA's and Scout Troops. She was a current member of the First Congregational Church, Wallingford and a Silver Member of the First Church of Christ Congregational of Glastonbury where she was an active member of both church's Women's Fellowships. Mary loved gardening, bridge, golf, swimming, the beach and books. She and Ted travelled the world enjoying many adventures with their family and friends. But most of all she loved her family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother and was loved dearly by her family and friends. A service celebrating her life will be held on Sunday, August 29, 2010 at 12 at the First Congregational Church, 23 South Main Street, Wallingford, CT. Burial will be private. Donations may be made to Norma Pfriem Cancer Institute at Bridgeport Hospital, P.O. Box 5000, Bridgeport, CT 06610.
