Obituary of Raymond Earl Grass

WALLINGFORD - Raymond "POPS" Grass, 83, of Wallingford passed away peacefully at his home on July 3rd. Ray was born in Hamden, CT on August 15 1926, son of the late Earl and Lena May Harlow Grass. He was a lifelong CT resident. He worked at Interstate Freight System of Orange, CT and was a member of the Teamsters Local 443 for 28 years until retiring in 1983. Raymond served in the United States Navy during World War II and participated in the invasion of Normandy. He was an avid fisherman and loved to work with cars. He will be dearly missed by family and friends and is survived by son Raymond Grass Jr (Patricia) of Durham as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by wife Esther Grass and daughter Donna Grass. Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday, July 7th from 5 PM - 7 PM at B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral service will follow the calling hours at 7 PM in the funeral home. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family would also like to give special recognition to granddaughter Sue Holly for her care and support of Raymond especially during his last hours.
