NEW HAVEN - James E. McNeil, 83, of New Haven, beloved husband of the late Lillie Mae McNeil, departed this life on Thursday, June 24, 2010 at University Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation in New Haven. James was born on June 21, 1927 in North Carolina, son of the late Will and Maggie (Armstrong) McNeil. He was a veteran and Corporal of the United States Army. He was a lifelong member and former youth pastor and treasurer of the United House of Prayer for All People in New Haven. He is survived by his one adopted daughter Andrea Jones of New Haven. His foster son Lamont Threatt of Virginia, a foster daughter, Barbara Bell of North Carolina, his dedicated cousin Dora Mitchell of SC, he also leaves several god-children. He is preceded in death by his cousin James Hall and two sisters, Lacy McNeil Ballard and Peola House along with two brothers Grady and Leonard McNeil. A funeral service will be held on Monday, June 28th at 7 PM at the United House of Prayer for All People in New Haven. Interment will be at a later date.
