Mary and Ruth Ehler were the dearest friends for over 61 years. Whether dressing in costume for New Year's Eve parties, cooking clams, corn and lobster and supervising children at Leete's Island or working together at the VNA, they enjoyed each other's company, not only during the good times but also in the sharing of sad and difficult times. They were the truest of friends. Mary was always there for our family with a kind and gentle word. Her lovely smile and sense of humor were always in evidence, no matter the circumstances. During Merrill's last months she was a source of strength and comfort to our family, always giving of herself. She will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered. Ruth, Lee, Christine and Kurt Ehler
