Obituary of Brian Donald McCarthy
Wallingford - Brian D. McCarthy, 17, of Wallingford, departed this life on Monday, May 4, 2009 at Yale New Haven Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Brian was born on June 11, 1991 in Meriden, son of George and Patricia (Brennan) McCarthy. Brian was a senior at Lyman Hall High School where he played varsity basketball for the past four years. He was especially proud of being accepted at West Virginia University where he planned on attending in the fall. He was loved deeply by his family and friends and will always be remembered as an outgoing, funny, and caring person who had a great love for life. Brian valued all of his friends deeply, and they meant the world to him.
He will be sadly missed by his parents, George and Patricia of Wallingford and his two brothers, Michael and Jack both of Wallingford. He also leaves his two grandmothers: Claudette Brennan Puig of Wallingford and Frances McCarthy of Wallingford, along with two uncles: Donald Brennan and his wife Lisa of Wallingford, and Edward Brennan and his wife Rebecca of Durham. Two aunts: Beverly Bentley and her husband Richard of Guilford and Maureen Kimler and her husband Paul of Madison. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Brian is also survived by his beloved pets: Muzzi and Cotton. He is preceded in death by his grandfathers: Donald Brennan Sr. and George McCarthy Sr.
Relatives and friends may call on Thursday, May 7th from 4 - 8 PM at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A Eucharistic funeral service will be held on Friday, May 8th at 10 AM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 65 North Main Street, Wallingford. Interment will follow at In Memoriam Cemetery. Those attending the funeral service are asked to meet directly at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Brian D. McCarthy Basketball Scholarship Fund, C/O B.C.
