Obituary of Thelma Miller
WALLINGFORD - Thelma E. Miller, 97, of Wallingford, beloved wife of the late Chester I. Miller, departed this life on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at the Masonic Healthcare Center.
Thelmawas born in Boston, MA, October 15, 1911, daughter of the late Samuel Herman & Florence (Dow) Sawyer.
Until her retirement she was a clerical worker at Ulbrich Stainless Steel Company. She was a member of the Yalesville United Methodist Church, was a past matron of Atlantic Chapter #179 O.E.S. in Quincy, MA, a member of Meridian Chapter #v 8 O.E.S. in Meriden and a former member of the Rebecca's. Thelma volunteered countless hours at the Wallingford Senior Center, Meriden Wallingford Hospital and the Masonic Healthcare Center.
She is survived by two sons, Chester A. Miller and his wife Grace of Wallingford and James I. Miller and his wife Jenn of Lady Lake, FL, a sister, Norma Louise Bothfeld and her husband Charles of Cabot, VT , 3 grandchildren: David and Paula Miller both of Wallingford, and Dr. Karin Alcantara of GA and 4 great grandchildren: Sarah, Abby, Konnor, and Emily. She is preceded in death by her sister Myrtle Lawson.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral services will follow at 6:00 PM in the chapel of the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to the Masonic Charity Foundation, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
