Obituary of Esther Hurlburt

Wallingford - Esther T. Hurlburt, 89, of Wallingford, beloved wife of the late Charles W. Hurlburt, departed this life on Monday, June 9, 2008 at the Masonic Home in Wallingford. Esther was born on May 7, 1919 in Naugatuck, CT, daughter of the late Rolland and Justine (Pearson) Tuttle. Esther and Charles owned and operated Hurlburt Motors in Wallingford until their retirement in 1975. She was an active member of 1st Congregational Church of Wallingford. She was a sunday school teacher at the church for many years and also a member of the choir. She was a member of the Wallingford Historical Society and was also a member of the Center Street Cemetery Association. In her spare time she was an avid doll maker and antique doll collector. They enjoyed spending summers at Lake Winipasacki*** until their retirement and then spent the winters in Vero Beach, Florida, where they enjoyed entertaining family and friends. They always enjoyed the company of their beloved poodles. She will be sadly missed by her nephews: Terry Slater and his wife Laurie of Guilford, and Scott Slater and his wife Julie of IA. She also leaves several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Tuttle and one sister, Bette Slater. A funeral service celebrating her life will be held on Thursday, June 12, 2008 at 10 AM at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. Interment will follow in In Memoriam Cemetery.
