Wallingford - Charles E. Guild, 74, of Wallingford, beloved partner of Beth Collins, departed this life on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Charlie was born on Easter Sunday, April 1, 1934,in Paugatuck, RI, son of the late Charles and Marion (Gavitt) Guild. He retired after over 30 years at Stevenson Dam for Northeast Utilities as a hydro engineer. His interests included rollerskating, bird watching, gardening, skiing, but mostly he enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He will be sadly missed by his children, Shari Lyman and her husband Rocco, of Naugatuck, Peter Guild and his wife Traci of Shelton, and Christopher Guild and his wife Tania of Shelton. He also leaves one sister, Nancy Rogers and her husband Keith of Milford, along with his 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Also missing him will be his partner Beth Collins, his companion Lee Barre, and his wonderful friends. He is preceded in death by his wife, Irene Guild. A Memorial service celebrating Charlie's life will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at 4:00 PM at the First Congregational Church in Wallingford. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family.
