I knew Jan since 1981, when I became director of the Seymour Public Library. At that time, Jan worked as administrative assistant for the film co-op that was headquartered in our building. After leaving Seymour in 1986, I continued to see Jan from time to time at professional events, and to speak with her when I telephoned the SWLC and CLC offices. She was always a lovely, personable, intelligent, upbeat lady -- a pleasure to know and a pleasure to be with. I was shocked by her sudden death and I will miss her. My very sincere sympathies go out to her family. They and we in the library community have lost a very special friend.
