Obituary of George E. Williams
WALLINGFORD - George E. Williams, born January 24, 1937 to Ernie "Doc" Williams and Marion Rose Williams passed peacefully with his family on Monday March 7, 2016.
From his work-hardened hands to his steel-toed boots, George was the epitome of a Yankee Farmer and Mechanic. With just a 9th grade education George was a mechanical genius inventing everything from a jet engine propelled ski machine he could be seen flying around the hay field on, to wood splitters and tractors created from car engines. Known throughout Connecticut and New England as one of the best farm mechanics, George had a keen ability to see pieces of equipment as having history and possibility even if they didn't work or sat rusting under an old tree out in the pasture. George's passing is a symbolic loss of a generation of Farmers who worked and understood the rhythms of the land, created with their hands, and helped their neighbors and friends.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years Carol (Eliason) Williams, his daughters Tracey Jo W. Kelsey and Jodi (Doc) Williams, Ph.D., his son-in-law Sean Kelsey, two grandchildren, George W. Kelsey and Jesseca Rose Kelsey and his adopted children Amanda Broe, Steve Young and Bill Patrick.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Connecticut Hospice would be wonderful. 100 Double Beach Road, Branford, CT 06405.
