Obituary of Philip Vincent Massaro

WALLINGFORD - Philip Massaro, 87, departed this life on August 23, 2017 at MidState Medical Center surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of the late Mabel (Huston) Massaro. Philip was born in New Haven, CT on March 9, 1930 to the late Peter and Frances (Fiorentino) Massaro.

Phil graduated from Hillhouse High School in New Haven, CT. He was in the Army during the Korean War and then after received his engineering degree from UConn and the University of Arizona. He worked for Pratt & Whitney as an engineer for 40 years in North Haven and East Hartford, CT. He was a lifelong student and teacher both taking classes at SCSU and teaching mathematics and science in Wallingford, CT. In his spare time, in addition to spending time with his loving family and friends, he enjoyed coffee, music, art, painting, theater, education, the Red Sox and traveling around the world with Mabel - the love of his life.

Philip is survived by: his daughter Carolyn (Frederick) Foster of Wallingford, and two sons: Peter Massaro of CA and Tom (Sandy Papale) Massaro of Wallingford. He will also be sorely missed by his three grandchildren: Michael, Christopher and Jenna Massaro, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Besides his loving wife Mabel, Philip is also predeceased by his brother Vincent Massaro and his sister Mary Massaro.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, August 28, 2017 at the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford beginning at 10:30am. Philip's funeral procession will depart from the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 south Elm Street, Wallingford. Those joining his procession are asked to be at the funeral home by 9:30am.
