Obituary of Julius J. Naczi, Jr.

Julius J. Naczi Jr. died on September 6th, 2017 due to complications following a long illness.   He was 68.

Mr. Naczi was born Christmas Day, 1948 in New Haven, CT to his parents, Julius Naczi Sr. and Mary McNamara Naczi.  He attended Southern Connecticut and Trinity College.  He married Bonnie Strickland in 1977.  He was a longtime resident of Wallingford, where he and his wife raised their family.  He was active in Scouting, Little League, and served as a Eucharistic Minister at Ss. Peter and Paul Church.  His career at Hartford Insurance Company spanned over twenty-five years, and he was a life member of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Hartford Lodge Number 19.

Mr. Naczi was known for his distinct sense of humor and his ability to expound upon literature, Middle English, and Latin decades after he had stepped foot into a classroom. He was an avid reader, golfer, and Yankees fan.

Mr. Naczi is survived by his wife of forty years; his children, Marysara and Noel; his nephew, Brian Garrett; his sister, Ilona; his brother-in-law, Roger Ellis; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved son, Emmett; and his sister, Lenore Ellis.

As per his wishes, his family interred him privately.   A memorial mass will take place on September 16th at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Resurrection in Wallingford.  There will be a reception at the Stillwood Inn in Wallingford at noon. Please come even if you are unable to attend the mass.  Those wishing to make a contribution in his memory may donate to the Shriners Hospital for Children.

His family is grateful for the staff and residents of Meriden Center, who encouraged and appreciated his sense of humor, as well as for his friends and family who went out of their way to visit.  His family takes comfort in knowing that his Elk brethren will include him among those remembered at the 11th hour.
