Obituary of Irene Louise Coane

Wallingford - Irene Louise Coane, 70, departed this life on July 13, 2018 at Masonicare in Wallingford. She was the beloved wife of 45 years to Kevin Coane of Wallingford. Irene was born in New Haven, CT on May 13, 1948 to the late Louis and Emily (Ryan) Cyr. She grew up in Wallingford and attended Lyman Hall High School where she met her husband. After graduating, Irene began working for John Horvath Insurance company and in 1972 she and Kevin were married. Irene was a bright light in everyone's life.

She was a happy soul that enjoyed reading, gardening, baking and doing crossword puzzles. Besides her family, perhaps one of the most treasured things in her life were her dogs, Ben and Daisy. She had a close special relationship with her sisters and every Saturday they would share a beautiful day of enjoying each other's company.

Besides her husband, Irene is survived by her two sisters; Elizabeth Cyr and Jean Cyr, both of Wallingford, brothers-in-law; Brian Coane (Laurie) of Northford and Sean Coane (Marie) of Killingworth and sister-in-law, Eileen Hajnal (Kenneth) of Guilford. She also leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Irene's funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 10:00 am at the B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. Burial will immediately follow at St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. There will be no public calling hours. In lieu of flowers, relatives and friends may send donations to the Meriden Humane Society, 311 Murdock Avenue, Meriden or to a charity of ones choice.
