Dear Ben and Family: Our family knew John well from our church family at Zion Lutheran in Wallingford. He was always in our prayers. Whenever we saw John at church, he always had a kind welcome, glowing smile, and a warm hugh to share, and always there to lend a helping hand. A gentle kind soul and I don't think anyone cared about Zion more than he did! Always serving the Lord! In lending a helping hand, one thing about John that our family will cherish I have to share. My son, Matthew, was working towards his Eagle Scout project some years ago. Matthew is a very self-driven and highy motivated creative individual; however, unfortunately met with some obstacles put in place by his own troop sadly to say. Matthew presented his Eagle Scout project to our Church Council of which John was a part, and it was approved by the church. John came forward to me and Matt after the meeting and offered to be of any assistance that he could to help him move forward in this endeavor. I will never forget my son's reaction. Were it not for John, my son may not have received his Eagle Scout and for this we will be more than eternally grateful to John. We pray that your family will find comfort in these words, and all those that will come to you in the days ahead. God's Peace and Blessings to you always.
