My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Hoffmann family and to all for whom Tim was a significant part of their lives. Because I cannot attend the memorial service, I'd like to share a few remembrances of Tim. We met at Buffalo State College way back in 1974. I was drawn to his sense of humor, his can-do attitude, and his positive outlook on life. I am forever indebted to him for two things: for convincing me to student teach with him in downstate NY, and for introducing me to the Northampton Beach Campground near Northville, NY. We quickly became good friends during student teaching--sharing laughs, overcoming challenges, and arguing about the merits of hand tools versus power tools: Tim clearly favored the latter. Part of that experience introduced me to Special Education, which subsequently became a career for me. Northampton Beach became a place where Tim and I could keep in touch despite the fact that we lived in different states. I have fond memories of things we did together: climbing Cathead Mountain and its fire tower; taking a small-plane ride with Doug over the lake; boating; playing horseshoes; and relaxing with Tim's immediate and extended family. I shared jars of Weber's Horseradish Mustard (a Western NY favorite of Tim's) with him and argued the merits of sailboats versus "stink-boats"--it's probably not hard to guess which ones Tim favored. Northampton Beach has become an annual vacation destination for me, and later, Ann and our children every year, save one, since 1975. As often happens in life, Tim and I fell out-of-touch for several years, not connecting at Northampton Beach. I am glad that he reached out to re-establish contact within the past two years. We had many candid phone and text conversations about many things, including his cancer diagnosis. He also voiced his on-going annoyance with those who didn't put two 'Ns' in Hoffmann! Once again, his sense of humor, can-do attitude, and positive outlook on life shone through. He was a true friend who will be missed. Rest in peace. Amen brother.

Tim wasn't a member of the Arbeiter Maenner Chor for very long.
But, in that short time he was he was an enthusiastic member,
offering to help in any way he could. He enjoyed being at the club
and loved filling in for the setback league.
Tim was a good man who will be missed by those who knew him.
Our sincere sympathy to his family, his friends and Sunny.
His friends at the Arbeiter Maenner Chor.

Tim was a regular at the Guilford Community Center Senior Citizens program for a couple of years until he moved out of Town. I am honored to have been able to provide him with transportation services, healthy meals and some wonderful social opportunities for a very social person. Because he lived in North Guilford near me, I was often the one to pick him up and got to know him as a caring, quirky, and fun loving person. Most importantly I got to know him as a fellow animal lover and was able to share tears with him when he lost his older cat and share joy when he found lovable Ike. I hope our services and programs were able to make his time in Guilford more enjoyable and comfortable. My condolences to his family.

Mr. Hoffmann was one of my favorite teachers during my time at Amity. He was a great teacher who really understood us. I will never forget the time he made an "I hate MTV" keychain for me, or teaching us how to use a blowtorch in class. My sincere condolences to Doug and the rest of his family and friends. RIP Mr. Hoffmann. Carrie Foster (Stahl)

I am so saddened by Tim's passing. He was a true gentleman, compassionate and giving. I am so blessed to be able to say I knew him, even if for a short time. He had the greatest sense of humor and smile. We shared many good times and some not so good but he always was up beat and optimistic. He found the best in everyone and would give you the shirt off his back. Rest in peace my dear, sweet friend. I will miss everything about u. You were one of the good ones.
All my love,
Kathy

Tim was passing out chocolate bars to everyone on the Guilford Community bus. I took candy from a stranger, and I have never regretted it. :relaxed: See you soon, my love, on the dark side of the moon. Sunny
