Obituary of Edward W. Petersen
WALLINGFORD - Edward W. Petersen, 83, of Wallingford passed away peacefully on December 14, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband for 58 years of Betty (Wuestefeld) Petersen.
Edward was the son of the late Axel and Bertha Petersen, born October 24,1930 and was raised in Orange, CT, before moving to Wallingford in 1956. He retired from Orion Capital as Director of Information Services in 1999 after 50 years of dedicated service. He served as a trustee of Zion Lutheran Church of Wallingford for twenty five years. Edward also served in the army during the Korean conflict.
Ed was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who treasured each moment he spent with his family. His wit and thoughtfulness endeared him to his many friends. Ed loved being outdoors, and took great pride in beautifying the landscape of his home and that of his church.
Along with his wife, Edward is survived by his five loving children, Susan Petersen of Meriden, Cheryl Lovely of Cromwell, Stephen (Patricia) Petersen of Wallingford, Darryl Petersen of Wallingford, and Christy (Stephen) Bishop of Northford; ten grandchildren Kelli, Nicole and Krista Petersen of Wallingford, John, Justin and Marc Petersen of North Haven, Corey (Stephen) McLaughlin of Pearl City, HI, Katelyn (Brian) Benavides of Homestead, FL, Kevin Lovely of Cromwell, and Christopher Lovely of Cromwell, along with two great granchildren David and Hayley. He also leaves behind his sister, Sandra Butler of West Haven, and was predeceased by his two brothers, Richard and Eugene.
Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, December 17th from 4 - 7 PM at the B. C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm Street, Wallingford. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 18th at 10 AM at Zion Lutheran Church in Wallingford. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Wallingford.
