My Auntie Murial, was a classy lady. She was absolutely traditional, and devout. Her home was Immaculate, she was impeccable, and dinner was on the table every night! She was a devoted wife, and a warm and loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. I adored my auntie Mur, ...we all did.
It was practically a right of passage in our family to sit at her kitchen table over a cup of tea (never coffee) and soak in some great advise and wisdom. I have many childhood memories of my aunt, but one of my fondest memories of Murial came over tea, when I was suffering of a broken heart after being dumped by a boyfriend. She took my hand in hers and assuring me that "He had HIS big chance!"...I love that! She made me cry and laugh and I still laugh today over that.
Another classic Murial story that comes to mind was me, standing on a chair in her kitchen, replacing a lightbulb and Mur suggesting that maybe we should wait for one of the MEN to come home. LOL, If I didn't love her so much I would have hated her for that.
Murial had a very giving heart, even when she had little to give, every neice, nephew and grandchild will attest to the fact that you could not part ways with Mur that she did not manage to slip a $5 bill into your hand as she kissed you goodbye.
Right up until the end, her loving spirit could not be dulled. The last time that I saw her, she no longer knew my name, but she looked into my eyes and declared with a little finger point, "I Love YOU!"
I know..."I Love YOU too!"
