Bette was my Grandfather's wife. After his passing in 2007, she asked us to continue visiting her, which we did, because we loved her. After my father, her husband Harmon's son, Glenn signed Harmon's will and sent it back to the attorney's office, she sent us a letter saying now that Harmon was dead, she did not want anything to do with us any longer. As a 17 year old boy, I called her up crying, asking her why she would do this and she said many mean hateful things such as that my grandfather slept around with other women while married to my Grandmother, Elizabeth Eva Brookes Scovil, in the 1940's and that my own Grandfather "never loved us". Well I know the love I felt in every hug of my Grandfather until his passing in 2007 so her hatefulness will never put my own Grandfather in a negative light. I will always love her husband, as I know he loved his family. It is an awful shame she never loved us herself. -Benjamin Scovil, Age 26, Charlotte NC
