MERIDEN - Douglas R. York, 82, of Meriden, beloved husband of Evelyn (McDonald) York, departed this life on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at the Masonic Healthcare Center. Doug was born on June 16, 1929 in Beverly, MA son of the late Raymond and Josephine (Pender) York. He retired from the U. S. Army after serving honerable for 20 years. He is also a veteran of the Vietnam War. He later worked for the U. S. Postal Service and Real Estate. In addition to his wife he is survived by seven children: Douglas York, Sharon York, Steven York, Kenneth York, Edward York, Arleen York, and Sandra Mullins. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. A graveside service with Military Honors will be held at the Connecticut State Veteran's Cemetery in Middletown on Friday, September 23rd at 10:00 AM. The B. C.
