I just found this obituary of Syd and want to say what a great man he was. He encouraged me so much. In 1956, when I was 15, he was the pastor of our small Methodist church in Middlehope, NY. One day he took me aside and we entered his living room. He, once again, explained the gospel of Jesus Christ to me and asked if I wanted to receive Him as my Savior and Lord. Of course, I said YES! He then prayed with me and led me into a lifelong relationship with Jesus. Eleven years later, Shirley and I drove up to his church and he married us. We have lived on the west coast since 1975. For my 50th high school reunion we traveled back to NY and paid Syd a nice visit. My life has had its ups and downs, but thanks to that wonderful man who led me to Christ, I have never lost hope that one day I will join him in paradise with all others who love God!
