I will truly miss Norm. He was one of the kindest, friendliest, most gracious, generous and knowledgeable people I've ever known. Our conversations on military history - especially the Civil War - will remain with me always. When he and Lynn traveled down to Virginia, we went to the Quartermaster Museum at nearby Fort Lee and he could have served as a guide through the museum.
We also walked around some of the seige of Petersburg Battlefield where he explained how all the cannons worked and what made howitzers different, etc.
When we were visiting him in CT, he took my son and I to a nearby rifle range so we could fire several from his amazing collection of rifles and pistols - our first experience with handguns.
He never failed to give me books he had read whenever we were together, and introduced me to author Dale Brown. By now I've read nearly everything he's written thanks to Norm sparking my interest. Unlike many model train enthusiasts, Norm made nearly
every building, bridge, etc. himself that he needed for his train set.
Rest in peace, Norm. We are
all richer for having known you.
